I’m in the mood for HE WAS COOL today. I’ll take a leave from doing Firebird for a while since I’m still watching it. I’m now on Episode 15! Anyways, I don’t remember why I didn’t do a feature on the movie He was Cool immediately. I think I was busy with something then. I watched this movie last month, beginning of November if I remember it right. I started with this already a few months back when I researched on who’s playing the other characters aside from Song Seung-hun and Jung Dabin. I’ll be comparing it to the internet novel from time to time.

MY FAVE SCENES:
1. Yehwon gets a call from Ji Eunsung the next day. <In the novel, Yehwon gets a call from him right that very night.>She was like, “Who’s this?” The answer -> Ji Eunsung. She remembers from the post. But she isn’t affected, she has no idea who this Ji Eunsung is. Her friend Kyungwon comes and asks her who called. She says it was some Ji Eunsung. Kyungwon was like, “You don’t know him? He’s a bully. He’s beaten up every boy.” Yehwon probably thought. Whew, I’m so dead.
2. Yehwon was getting her hair straightened at a salon, she’s still getting calls from Ji Eunsung but she doesn’t answer them. 4 boys walk in, one of them wanting to get his hair dyed black. <In the novel, Eunsung didn’t want his hair dyed black, he just wants a haircut.> Yehwon and Eunsung were sitting side by side but they don’t know each other. Eunsung decides to pester Yehwon again so he calls. Yehwon’s phone rings and she answers, the guy on the other line says, “Want to get your ass kicked?” Yehwon has had it with him so she yells, “Kick all you want!” <In the novel, Eunsung and his friends found out it’s her when the unnie who was doing her hair mentioned her name.>
The reactions:

It was funny how they executed the scene, Floppy and the other friend woke up from their slumber, Hyunsung looked up from reading a magazine, Eunsung glared at her, and Yehwon has her eyes and mouth wide.
The end result:
Yehwon speeds out of the salon while Eunsung madly running after her. <In the novel, the 4 kingkas were forced to wait for Yehwon to finish her hair treatment and when they left for a while, she paid the unnie immediately and dashed out of the salon.>
3. Eunsung and his friends decide to just wait in front of Yehwon’s school. They send a text message to her – “Meet me at the gate after school, if you run, you’re dead.” It’s cute when they made the text message surround Yehwon and eventually choked her. Hehe. <There’s no text message in the novel.>
She’s freaking out so she tells Kyungwon about it but the latter has earphones so she couldn’t hear Yehwon. Kyungwon goes, “What? What?” Yehwon yells, “Ji.Eun.Sung!” Their whole class stopped whatever they were doing previously and looked at Yehwon and Kyungwon. They started gossiping afterwards. (Why? Ji Eunsung is an ulljjang and so girls are after him. If you’re seen hanging out with an ulljjang, you’re the envy among girls.)
4. They decide to sneak out of school. <In the novel, they just decided to skip detention and then they saw Eunsung’s friends outside the gate so they ran.> Whew, it’s funny when Kyungwon bumped her head to a tube. Hehe. Poor Kyungwon. They see 2 of Eunsung’s friends already waiting outside the gate. Kyungwon comes up with an idea.
Kyungwon’s big idea: Jump over the wall. <In the novel, it was Yehwon’s idea to jump over the fence.> Kyungwon went first, Yehwon was asking her if she’s OK but she wasn’t answering. A PE teacher comes so Yehwon had no choice but to jump over. <There was no PE teacher in the novel.> She has her eyes closed so she didn’t see Eunsung on the other side. Eunsung’s eyes were as huge as saucers seeing her about to fall down. When Yehwon opened her eyes, seeing Eunsung, she was like hanging in the air, if she could just go back to the other side, she would than falling into the side where Eunsung is. (That was really funny!) She falls into Eunsung’s arms and their lips accidentally touch.
I love the “KABOOM” part. Hehe. Great animation. So that’s why Kyungwon wasn’t answering. Hehe.
5. Yehwon gets up and about to leave with Kyungwon when Eunsung yells, “Get back! Stop right there! ” Yehwon turns back and she was like, “Oh, I forgot.” She digs in coins and everything from her pocket to give to Eunsung. Floppy goes, “Are we muggers, Eunsung?” Yehwon is confused, “What do you want from me?”
Eunsung -> “Be responsible.”
Kyungwon -> “For what?”
Eunsung -> “We’re getting married.”
Yehwon -> O_O “What’s he talking about?”
Eunsung -> “You are the first chick, so be responsible.”
Floppy -> “He doesn’t even hold hands. You’d better accept your fate.”
Eunsung gets her phone and does something with it. (I think he punched in his number.) “Run again and you’re dead.” Yehwon thought Eunsung was gonna hit her in the head with her cellphone but he said instead, “Call me.” (Agh, that was so cute!) Floppy -> “You better call.” Floppy and Eunsung leaves Yehwon still puzzled.
Floppy -> “Are you kidding? She’s a dog.”
Eunsung -> “I know. Just my luck.”
Floppy -> “Her friend is okay though.”
6. Yehwon was borrowing her brother’s phone to call Jungmin but he wouldn’t let her, because she didn’t make him rice. (Yes, that’s what Seungpyo – brother, always make Yehwon do for him.) She appeared in his room while he was putting on a girdle that will supposedly help him get into college. (Gah, where did he get that idea?) Yehwon gets back at him by telling their mom that he’s doing something weird. (I think the perfect word is doing something pervy. Hehe.) The mom was like, “Is he watching porn again?” So the mom rushes to his room but Yehwon stops her, she runs to the kitchen and gets a spatula, “Mom, take this with you.” (Lol.) So there, mom, hit Seungpyo with the spatula while Yehwon listens to his brother’s cries with much pleasure. Hehe. (This scene was not in the novel. Just the part where Seungpyo wouldn’t let Yehwon borrow his phone, the spatula part was made up, it was so funny though. Good thinking.)
7. So Yehwon went to use the pay phone near her house. An old man came calling himself Mr. Killer Smile. <Yuck. Anyways, in the novel, the ahjushi who was hitting on Yehwon was 30 years old, the guy here is so old. And she calls the guy MM aka Mustache Man because the guy has a mustache. Hehe.> He mistook her as his internet friend. The ahjushi forces her to get in the car while she tries to escape from his arms, when a block of wood ruins the windshield of the car…
Eunsung and his friends surround the car. Floppy gets Yehwon out while Eunsung tells the ahjushi to act his age. <In the novel, Eunsung beat the crap out of the ahjushi, but they didn’t do it in the movie probably because the guy is too old. You know, Korean has too much respect for old people.>
Floppy -> “Isn’t she that chick? Miss Ass! What are you doing out this late? Got kicked out of the house?” (They call her Miss Ass because she supposedly “sat” on Eunsung. Lol. But in the novel, I remember they called her Miss Ass because she got her butt beaten by her teacher.)
Yehwon continues weeping.
Eunsung -> “You hook?” (How rude.)
Yehwon -> “I was kidnapped!”
Eunsung -> “Miss Ass, where do you live?”
<It should have been more aggressive when SSH said, “WHERE DO YOU LIVE?” Then Yehwon would answer, “Why are you yelling at me???” Also, it was not included, bummer because I liked that scene -> Yehwon kept looking at Hyunsung because she thought he was good-looking, Eunsung was like, “Do you want to die? Why are you looking at him like that?”>
Eunsung walks Yehwon home. Funny scene: They were walking and Eunsung would step on dog poops, he goes, “What a neighborhood! Dog poops are everywhere!” (How fussy!) They reached Yehwon’s house, she was about to go in when Eunsung calls her again.
Eunsung -> “Miss Ass! Didnt I tell you to call me? You rape me and run?” (Kekekeke…)
Yehwon -> “My cellphone has been cut off.”
Eunsung -> “Use your home phone then.”
Yehwon -> “It’s been cut off too.”
Eunsung -> “Your family is that poor. Use whatever and call me. Get it? Bye. ”
Eunsung walks to the other side.
Yehwon -> “It’s a dead end.”
Eunsung goes back. (Wehehe, he’s embarrassed.)
Eunsung -> “Call me. ” (mutters to himself) “It’s a dead end. This way? ”
<In the novel, the dead-end thing didn’t happen in that scene, it happens when Eunsung brought her home after they went to the bar. Confused yet? Gah, it’s because they didn’t do it as it is, they jumbled up the scenes. I’m getting confused my self!>
8. Yehwon uses his brother’s phone while he’s asleep. (Note: look at her brother, his hand is inserted inside his shorts. Kekeke…) She calls Eunsung and he goes PMSy again. Yehwon goes, “You told me to call you!” Eunsung -> “Not this late! Call me tomorrow. Otherwise you’re dead.” Right then Seungpyo (her brother) wakes up. Oops busted! He tells Yehwon, “Fix me fried rice!” <In the novel, Seungpyo made a contract that Yehwon has to cook him rice 10 times so that she could use his phone.> So she makes him fried rice. Her mother then comes walking behind her with a spatula. (Damn, this scene is hecka funny!)
Mom -> “Hey!”
Yehwon -> “Jesus Christ! Don’t sneak up on me like that! ”
Mom -> Cooking this late? Make me some too. I’m hungry. ”
Yehwon -> What am I? A maid? ”
<In the novel, her mom caught her cooking at 3am and she got scolded, no “making her some” too. Lol.>
9. This is funny, basically because of the teacher who was picking his nose. (This teacher really looks familiar, now I realized, he was Eunyoung’s boyfriend in My Funky Family and he’s appeared several times on Guys and Girls. Why are Korean teachers always picking their noses? The teacher in 100 days with Mr. Arrogant does too. But that’s more yucky. Eew.) Oh why are they in the bathroom? They were punished for skipping class the previous day.
10. Eunsung and Floppy are waiting for Yehwon outside the gate, the high school girls are ogling over them as if they were celebrities. (WTF, SSH looks so hot wearing a high school uniform.) Yehwon sees them so she tries to run sneaking again. Too late, Eunsung has seen her already. He calls her, “Han Yehwon!” (Gah, Yehwon’s facial expression was funny.) Eunsung tells her to meet him at a place called SAAB – a bar. <The part where the girls were going crazy seeing Eunsung and his friends happened much late in the novel.>
11. On their way home from the bar, Yehwon links arms with Eunsung but he yanks his arm away from her.
Eunsung -> I don’t like being touched. Keep your hands to yourself.
12. Eunsung calls Yehwon while she and Kyungwon were cleaning the windows. (Gah, they’re always cleaning. Doesn’t the school have janitors?)
Yehwon -> Hello.
Miss Ass, what’s up?
Yehwon -> Don’t call me that!
Eunsung -> What should I call you then? Miss Butt?
Teacher -> Ji Eunsung, get up here!
Eunsung -> Damn, I got caught! It’s all your fault.
Get your ass up here now!
Eunsung -> I’m coming. (places her finger infront of his lips signifying to keep quiet. Waah! He’s super cute here! Angas!) Just a second. (starts walking to his teacher) Make yourself available tomorrow.
Yehwon -> What? Im busy tomorrow.
Eunsung -> One more thing, don’t call me in class. THEY’RE STUDYING. Bye. (It was him who called her! The THEY’RE STUDYING part was cute!!)
He then gives the cellphone to his teacher. (Waah!! He’s really cute when he gave the phone!!!!!!!! *dies*)
<In the novel, this happened before they went to the bar. It was Yehwon who called Eunsung while she was cleaning the bathroom with Kyungwon. She used Kyungwon’s cellphone actually. The same thing happened, Eunsung got caught by the teacher and hit him where he has a pimple. So cute.>
Back in Yehwon’s school. Kyungwon asks her who called, when Yehwon said it was Ji Eunsung. Her classmates stopped -> “Ji Eunsung? Who Ji Eunsung? You just talked to JI Eunsung?”
Yehwon -> Yeah.
Classmate -> You’re really seeing Ji Eunsung?
Kyungwon -> (to Yehwon) He can’t see enough of you, can he?
Yehwon -> I know. Quite bothering.
13. Eunsung, Yehwon, Floppy and Kyungwon hang together and play billiards. Yehwon misses the ball again. Eunsung is freaking mad already, “God damn it. Are you doing it on purpose? It’s been hours.”
Yehwon -> I told you I couldn’t play.
Floppy -> Let’s play without her. Kyungwon show her. Watch her and learn. She’s really good.
Kyungwon -> I cant believe you cant do it. Watch me.
Kyungwon hits the ball but not the target. She sucks as well. (Huh, you’re so proud ah!)
Floppy -> (consoling Kyungwon) That’s ok. At least you hit the ball.
14. Kyungwon says that Eunsung is really good at pool, even better than Floppy. (Shouldnt you be siding with your boyfriend, Kyungwon?) Floppy says, “That’s because Haebin taught him. Haebin and Eunsung…” He wasn’t able to finish because Eunsung cut him off, signifying it’s something that shouldn’t be brought up. It was so cute when Floppy slapped himself for having such a big mouth. <Haebin was mentioned so early, in the novel, he was mentioned much much much later, almost towards the end.>
15. Kim Hansung, Hyobin’s brother arrives and this pissed Eunsung so he wants to leave. When Yehwon walked past Hansung, he tells her, “See you soon.” Yehwon has no idea how he knew her. (Woohoo, Kim Hansung’s first appearance!!! Sexy Kim Hansung Oppah! There’s no such scene in the novel so I don’t quite remember when Hansung first appeared there. I’ll try to remember though…)
16. During the previous scene, a group of guys challenged Eunsung and his friends to fight. (Gah, they were so hot when they were walking in the corridors. I was like, “err, F4?” Hehe. Cause there were shadows and stuff.) Kyungwon and Yehwon were also in the scene. (Remember, they were at the pool hall when Eunsung was challenged.) Kyungwon seems to be excited to watch a fight, she was like, “Let’s get closer!” and disappears from Yehwon’s sight. Meanwhile, Yehwon sees some guys about to attack Eunsung from behind so she calls his attention. The guy then begins to attack Yehwon. Eunsung sees this and runs towards Yehwon to save her, he beats the crap out of that guy. The leader and his gang walks towards Eunsung because he’s beating him nonstop. Yehwon hides behind Eunsung, he tells her, “Keep your eyes closed.” Yehwon responds -> “I don’t have a watch.” Eunsung -> “Hide in the corner.” Eunsung begins to fight all those men while Yehwon starts counting, covering her ears, with her eyes closed. After Eunsung has finished with all the men, he turns to the leader, he gets whatever it is that his carrying around with him always. (In the pool hall scene, Eunsung asked what it is but the guy wouldn’t tell him.) The thing turns out to be a T-square! (Gah, that’s freakin funny! Why bring a T-square around???!) Eunsung beat him in one move. Eunsung tells Yehwon that it’s finished. Yehwon bursted out crying.
<Whew, that was long! A lot of differences from the novel. First, since there was no pool hall scene in the novel, Eunsung actually called Yehwon saying that he’s gonna fight with the kids from Gong High. Yehwon tells Kyungwon about this and the latter urges Yehwon to go because she’s worried about Floppy. Kyungwon is too worried to be excited about the fight. Lol. Second, when Eunsung was telling Yehwon to close her eyes. The dialogues were cut, they didn’t make sense. How is that supposed to work? Eunsung said “Keep your eyes closed” then Yehwon answered, “I don’t have a watch.” Then Yehwon started counting. It doesn’t connect, does it? It’s actually like this, Eunsung told her to close her eyes for 10 minutes so she wouldn’t see him beating the hell out of those guys, then Yehwon responds that she doesn’t have a watch, how can she know if it’s already 10 minutes. Eunsung then tells her to just count to 150 and open her eyes once she’s done. She did what she was told, later, Kyungwon comes and asks her what she was doing, she says, “Wait, I need to count until 150 before I open my eyes.” Gah, this girl is so obedient! Whew, that was really long.>
17. This is so cute. It’s like we have 3 loveteams: Floppy and Kyungwon -> Kyungwon is treating Floppy’s wounds and he goes, “No patches in my face!”, Sungjae and Hyunsung -> Hyunsung is treating Sungjae and he says, “Take care of your face, man.” & of course, Eunsung and Yehwon.
Yehwon -> Are you okay?
Eunsung -> No.
Yehwon -> Let me see.
Eunsung -> I think it’s dislocated.
Yehwon -> Here? (Eunsung cringes, Yehwon removes her hand from touching him) That’s right…Sorry.
Eunsung -> For what?
Yehwon -> You don’t like being touched.
Eunsung -> It’s okay.
Yehwon -> What’s the occasion?
Eunsung -> Just don’t touch my ass. (Wahahahahaha!!!)
Yehwon -> I wouldn’t for the world!

18. They start walking…
Eunsung -> We’re going away on Saturday.
Yehwon -> Really? That sounds like fun.
Eunsung -> You’re coming with us.
Yehwon -> But my friend’s coming. (-> friend Jungmin from US coming to Korea.)
Eunsung -> It’s my birthday.
Yehwon -> Really? I’m sorry to miss it.
Eunsung -> Let me tell you, you should be with me. (-> hot hot hot!)
Yehwon -> I haven’t seen him in 3 years.
Eunsung -> You’re coming. If you don’t, you’ll be very sorry. (Gah, the threats!)
Yehwon -> Sure. Sure, sure sure! (Sure sure ka jan! Eh di ka naman pupunta!)
19. Yehwon goes to pick up her friend Jungmin instead of going to Eunsung’s birthday party. The scene where Yehwon sees Jungmin in the escalator is funny. Jungmin was going up while Yehwon going down and then they see ach other. They like dunno what to do, whether to come up or down or climb over. Lol.
20. Jungmin and Yehwon are playing in the arcade when Kyungwon walks in. She’s asking her why she didn’t come to the party when Eunsung prepared a lot of things for her. I liked it when she said, “He’s such a cutie. He’s outside, freaking pissed.” Yehwon answered with -> Why wouldn’t he come in. (I hated Yehwon here, so freaking dense. You promised him you’ll be with him on his birthday but you broke it, What do you expect him to feel?)
21. This is funny because of the guy who has a name tag that says “Song Seung-hun”. I’m not sure but maybe it’s because of his thick eyebrows.
22. The T-square guy and this “Song Seung-hun” guy are ganging up on Yehwon telling him to call Eunsung since T-square guy recognized Yehwon as Eunsung’s girlfriend. Yehwon was like, “We broke up. He dumped me.” But the 2 punks wouldn’t believe her. Hyobin comes out of one cubicle and claims that she’s Eunsung’s chick. She calls Eunsung saying that she’s being bullied. Eunsung is in a batting cage and he couldn’t care less about Hyobin. He’s about to hang up when he hears Yehwon shouting, “Don’t come here. It’s a trap!”
23. Yehwon, Hyobin and some other girls are being punished by those 2 ugly guys. Eunsung comes and Yehwon runs to him but Eunsung says, “I’m not here for you.” (Argh, that was sad.) Hyobin then comes to Eunsung and hugs him. (Asus, Eunsung was actually there for Yehwon, he’s just using Hyobin because he’s too proud to admit it.)
24. Eunsung gets beaten up so bad because there were too many opponents and he’s alone. His friends came too late. On one side, Yehwon could only watch him getting stepped on, crying.
25. Yehwon gets a call from Eunsung telling her to go ShinWol Primary School. He’s there and he’s going to wait for him. He went there even though he’s a patient. Yehwon rushes to the school but she couldn’t find him anywhere, she sat and waited there for hours but she saw no Eunsung. (I noticed she’s wearing a Hang Ten shirt, she models it yata.)
