initially, i wanted to read this because of what celine said about yunho. i wanted to read a fic where yunho is a baddie. but i ended up liking and loving junsu in this fic. grabe! this is one of the best and darkest fics i have read. isa sa mga fics na ayaw ko talaga tigilan dahil sobrang mysterious at ang daming secrets na gusto ko ng malaman.
let's do a rundown on the characters... junsu is a gangster who works for yuchun who's looking for her sister, junhee, yuchun is the boss of jinhae corporation, jaejoong is a law student, yunho is junhee's client, changmin is solbi's husband, junhee is junsu's whoring sister, solbi is a plain housewife with a son - hajin. somehow someway, eveyone knows everyone. regarding the love stories, i thought it was going to be yuchun and changmin over solbi and jaejoong and yunho for junhee but i was so wrong. it's a really complicated thing that started when they were in high school.
i really loved junsu in the fic. – that’s a first. I never had junsu as my favorite character in any of the dbsk fics I have read. i had a hard time picturing junsu in the first scene because im not used to gangster junsu roles - those roles usually go to either yunho or jaejoong. his role in little vietnamese girl was kinda similar, but he had more angst here so it was not too long before i got comfortable with junsu in a gangster, angsty role. I loved everything about junsu in this fic. he used to be really nice and kind person in high school but he did a 360 after what happened to junhee. he tried to kill changmin for what he did and got to jail because of that. when he came out, he was a totally different person. his only goal was to find junhee and even if junhee was always pushing him away, he wouldnt leave her side. kahit mga patagong pagsilip lang kay junhee for a few minutes, ok na sa kanya. *heuk, naiiyak na naman ako* he is such a good brother to junhee. gusto ko talaga ang story nila ni solbi. i'm a solbi-junsu shipper. i love love their story and im glad that the story ended with their scene at the ambulance. that really made me cry. ang ganda ganda ng love story nila kahit forbidden because solbi's married and considering junsu's history with changmin. ang cute whenever they would see each other at the hospital and even if junsu doesnt want to care, he cant seem the evade the feeling that he wants to protect her. even if he doesnt want to get involved, nangyari pa rin. i love scenes where the guy would put the girl's shoes back on and junsu did this once to solbi. dun pa lang, I knew that i would love junsu and solbi till the end. super hot ni junsu sa chapter 39 when he said goodbye to solbi. as in na-imagine ko talaga ang scene na yun! sobrang AAAAAAWWWW moment. the kiss. the i love yous. ang sweet. at mas lalo ako natuwa that solbi was in that high school too and she was the girl who stopped junsu from killing changmin. the reason for her doing that was not to save changmin, but junsu - she didnt want him to be in the same situation as her father.
nung una, ayaw ko pa talaga maniwala that changmin was abusive. ok, may clue when solbi was so scared that she wouldnt be able to prepare a meal for changmin, pero after that, parang ang sweet naman kase ni changmin and they seem like the perfect family. pero that's the first thing that i love about this fic, it will make question your theories from time to time kase may mga facts na mari-reveal that will make you say, "ay baka, hindi" pero yung ibang revealed facts would strengthen some of your theories naman. back to changmin, so yeah, i was in denial at first that he was responsible for solbi's bruises. i even blamed mrs. shim cause she's the one who always bitchy towards solbi. haha! pero yun pala, changmin get really abusive when he's drunk. he was really scary. i was really scared of changmin here, i was not mad… but really scared to the point that i just cry everytime he'd hurt solbi. talagang napatanong ko minsan ng "changmin, why are you like this?' feel na feel ko talaga. at madali lang naman hulaan what changmin's role in junhee's life is when junhee said that she recognized him and had dinner with him and his wife. i really hated changmin during that scene on chapter 40, when junhee went to changmin and was about kill him. he was taunting her to do it and was really rude to everyone. he was really really bad. funny as it is, eto ang naisip ko: ang two-faced ni changmin. XD
it was pretty evident that jaejoong loves junhee, from the beginning. for some reason, he just couldnt push through with it and he's focused on his studies more, but he's doing this for junhee pala. he was junhee's boyfriend when they were in high school but he avoided her after the incident that changed everyones’ lives. i cant blame jaejoong for his initial reaction cause he's only human, i think that's natural. isa siyang bayani if he didnt even feel slightly different towards junhee. he realized his mistake naman eh, but it was too late cause junhee was already gone. naiyak ako dun sa scene when he was talking to his school teacher about his shift from medicine to law. he made the choice to save junhee later on, to avenge her. sobrang naiyak ako when he said the reason for his change of heart - "Because it’s the death sentence is the only way to legally kill someone. If not, prison is the second best thing.” he sacrificed his dream of becoming a doctor for junhee, if that’s not enough proff that he loves her so much, I don’t know what is.
sabi ko nung una, parang ang minor ng role ni yuchun. at akala ko pa nung una, junsu’s the boss and he’s the right hand man stanford graduate, but it's the other way around. natutuwa ako sa mode of speaking ni yuchun - ang galang galang but his convos with junsu are always hilarious because junsu says "fucking" after every word in his sentences. i like it that yuchun knows everything here, as in. he used to like junhee din pala pero buti na lang at naka-move on siya at naka-bingwit ng french-american! ang sweet sweet nilang 2! wahaha! I can say that of the 4 who are directly involved with junhee, he had the happiest life. but if you’re going to think about it, he was the root of all these. it was his sibling rivalry with changmin that made things happen. it was unfair that an innocent girl was was ruined and everyone else’s lives because of their own family problem. kaya rin siguro even if yuchun has met a wonderful girl like arielle, he still cant be happy because it’s too unfair.
yunho's role here is pretty small. yes, he's known as the saboy guy cause he would throw money for everything - for compensation, for sex. (ang kamote lang kase maski nung high school, tinapunan niya din ng pera si junhee! at isa siyang gwangju dude richie kid! ahaha!) aside from that, his only other job is to drive drunken friends home or suicidal friends who’s going to pick up some gun before killing someone. but actually he is a good guy. that's my opinion about him from the beginning and proof was his individual chapter. i think that he also likes junhee 'secretly', he just didn’t pursue her cause it’s already complicated. you wouldnt sleep with someone several times if you dont like her. if money is the only way to make junhee stay with him then so be it. he has lots so he'd make use of that to make junhee spend more time with him. another evidence is when he visited junhee at the hospital and he was watching her when she was sleeping. he does care about junhee, it's not just about sex., but im pretty sure it’s not love either. he just cares.
of the two girls - junhee and solbi, i really liked solbi more. i just really didnt dig junhee's character that much. i dont like suicidal characters. she's really complicated and she's affecting everyone and i dont like it. mean as it is, it's true naman talaga that she was the reason everyone's lives is f*cked up. solbi's only flaw is that she's so understanding and passive, but i kinda understand, lalo na when i read her individual chapter. she also had a sad life but she knows she cant give up because she has a child.
everything was already clear to me after reading chapter 40 of part 1. i already know why changmin did what he did after finding out that his name was park yoomin (ang reaction ko pa when he was first name-dropped "who the heck is park yoomin?") - meaning he's yuchun's brother. changmin did that to junhee to spite yuchun since yuchun likes junhee. my only question was "who was the son?". first thing that came to mind was hajin - of course. there's no other kid but him. but i thought, hajin was only 3. changmin said he and solbi had him when they were 21 and that was why they were arranged to be married. so after part 2, i went back and forth again if it's hajin or not, cause it just doesnt add up. if "it" happened when junhee was a freshie and changmin was a junior, yuchun and jaejoong were seniors, they were 17, 18 and 19 then. so hajin should be at least 6. the only palusot i can think of is that changmin must have lied when he told junhee of his and solbi's story during that dinner with yunho and junhee. but i think i have to re-read a fic about hajin's age cause im pretty sure i read that hajin's 3. or did i just assume that when changmin said they had him when they were 21? i even had this theory in the beginning - during that koala scene with junsu, that hajin is junsu's son with solbi without his knowing cause there was a scene where junsu thought solbi was familiar. at inisip ko din na kaya solbi's just taking the abuse was to protect hajin from changmin cause changmin's mad at hajin cause he's not his son but junsu's. wahaha! at kamote, tapos na ang part 2 eh di pa rin ako naniniwala that hajin is the son kahit yun yung pinalit ni changmin dahil pina-abort niya yung anak nila ni solbi. (isa pa yang kasamaan ni changmin!) kaya sinasabi ni solbi nung mga unang chapters kay junsu na "he's going to take my son away again." but yeah, we'll find out why during the final chapter at kaya hajin's that familiar with junsu is because he's his uncle.
this fic is super recommendable. it's very interesting to know that the characters were based on real characters that the author knows personally. there were inconsistencies and minor plotholes but they're understandable cause the author must have been writing this for a long peior of time, thus forgetting some of the details. the final chapter is super breath-taking. grabe grabe, ang dami kong niluha at super pinipigil ko talaga. all characters were really pitiful but of course, my heart went to solbi and junsu. I love love them both. feeling ko naman, na-justify lahat ng characters but still, I cant forgive changmin. he was way too cruel. as for the ending: i had the same question as irick, why junsu? until the end, he was thinking of junhee's sake. but im really glad that he spent his last seconds of being alive with solbi. -_- I like how it ended though, even if it mean sacrificing junsu.
